Attention Current Events!

I just finished the rubric that will be used when grading your article summaries.  I will attach it to this post so that you may look it over while at home.  I will also pass out copies tomorrow in class and discuss it to make sure there is no confusion over what I am asking of you when you write your summaries.

Here it is....

Article Summary Rubric
1.      Article Information (Score range 3 to 0)                                            _____
·         One point for each of the following: Headline, News Outlet/Newspaper, and the Author
2.      Summary
·         Location of story (1 point)                                          _____
·         People, organizations, or groups involved (1 point)  _____
·         Clarity: The summary clearly explains the situation in the students own words. (Score range 10 to 0)                                                            _____
·         Why is it news? Which of the 12 characteristics from your notes does it best fit? (Score range 3 to 1)                                                            _____
3.      Article Included?
·         Did you include a copy of the article? (Score range 2 OR 0)                                                                                                                         _____
4.      Spelling/Grammar (Score range 5 to 0)
·         Every three spelling/grammar mistakes will lead to a one point deduction.                                                                                                   _____
